Service Rifle Charity Shoot

Details of the Service Rifle Charity Shoot on 15 May are now available.  Check out the complete schedule here

Guests and Visitors

Club members are encouraged to bring non members to shoot with us in the Club.  A reminder of the arrangements in place for this follows.

There are two categories of non-member participation.

Visitors.  Non members who hold Firearm Certificates can visit the Club as a Full Member's guest at any time.  There is no need to inform the Secretary prior to the visit.  The visitor must sign the Visitor Log which includes the mandatory declaration about not being a prohibited person (a bit redundant you would think but there you are).  A £5 Visitor Fee and supervision by the host member is the only other requirement.  The member should ensure that his guest is briefed on our safety procedures.

Guest Days.  Non members who do not hold FACs may only attend the Club to shoot on a Guest Day.  On the programme you will note that we have not indicated any Guest Days (GD).  We are allowed only 12 GDs a year.  There is no point in using one of these 12 when no guests come.  So, the arrangement will be that any club meeting can be a GD until we use up the allocation.  Members who wish to bring a guest must advise the Secretary a week before the meeting giving the guest's full name, address and date of birth.  The Secretary will advise if the GD has been approved.  The guest must be entered on the Visitor Log.  No fee is needed.  The host must supervise the guest during all shooting and is responsible for keeping the guest safe.  If a member wishes to bring a group of guests the Club will help provide supervisors.  Two weeks notice will be necessary to arrange this.

AGM

New Subscriptions agreed at AGM.  New subscriptions were agreed at the AGM.  Full Members annual subscription is now £50, Senior members £20 and Junior members stay at £10.  A new category of Probationary Member was introduced for £10 (maximum 6 months before paying full membership fee)

Membership Cards  If you would like your membership card posted to you rather than pick it up from the clubhouse, please send the Secretary a stamped, self-addressed envelope.  David Squires, Birchlea, Tininver Street, Dufftown, AB55 4AZ.

Range Day Staffing

At the AGM we discussed the problem of not enough people and/or range officers turning up at a programmed shooting day to allow shooting to take place.  We have had a look at the problem and decided to trial a web-based roster system.  I have written to members describing the system and inviting you to participate.  If you have not received an email from me please get in touch.  It will just be because I don't have your up to date email address.

AGM 2010

The Secretary has written to all members with the minutes of the AGM and a copy of the updated  Club constitution.  For future reference the minutes and constitution will be available on the website.

2010 Shooting Programme

The 2010 Shooting Programme has been finalised and is available from here.  In compiling the programme we have taken note of the shooting survey findings and tried to meet the needs of as many members as possible.  New features of the programme are:

·         Every rifle date has a range or ranges specified so that you know where we will be shooting every time you attend.

·         We have instituted monthly short range (100/200yd) range evenings.

·         We will also have monthly short range (25m) gallery rifle and muzzle loading pistol evenings.

·         Many of the target rifle competitions have been placed in a new event, an annual championships.

The programme is available as a whole (6 pages) here or month by month here.  If you have any queries about the programme or suggestions for its improvement please contact the Chairman.

New Skeet Range Operational

The Club's latest project, a skeet range, is now operational.  The range still needs some work to complete drainage, landscaping and general tidying up but is now available for use.

Muzzle Loading Competition

The Club's first muzzle loading competition was held on Sunday 18 October and was a great success.  Read the picture report.

2010 Programme

We are planning the 2010 rifle programme and want to ensure that it meets the needs of as many members as possible.  As part of this we will be issuing all members a questionnaire asking for your views and ideas on the programme.  You will be emailed the questionnaire but if you lose it or don't get it, another copy is here

Post Moy Open Days

After a very successful weekend at our stand at the Highland Field Sports Fair at Moy we will be holding a series of Open Days at the Club for beginners and guests returning to shooting.  We need members to coach guests.  If you can help, contact David Squires (01340 820979 davidsquires303@aol.com ).  The next and last Open Day will be on Sunday 11 October, starting at 10am (helpers should arrive early).
