Cawdor Rifle
And Gun Club was formed in 1905. It was used for Cawdor estates
ghillies' to practice for deer stalking and also by the army
in preparation for soldiers going to war in 1914-18 and again
in 1939-45.
Nowadays, as well as club use, the Police,
the British Deer Society, the Deer Commission and other target
shooting clubs use the range. We are affiliated to the National
and Scottish Rifle Associations and the Scottish Clay Target
Association.
As mentioned on the main page
we shoot 100, 200, 300, 500 and 600 yards full and small bore
and F/Class target rifles. Clays include, DTL, High pheasant,
Springing teal. Crossing woodcock, Driven Grouse, Settling Pigeon
and Skeet all from 12v automatic traps.
Presently there are over 140
Clay, and 40 rifle club members with a wide age range, and non-members
are always welcome. We can accommodate both expert and novice
shots with coaching also available. Facilities include on site
portacabin, toilets (in
development), tea and coffee, and we have a very friendly
atmosphere.
